Introduction

Thank you for your purchase from Neunaber Audio Effects.

We do not ship paper Instructions with our products. We feel this wastes paper, when the same information is available here. Also, we update these Instructions from time to time and want you to have the most current version. If you would like a hard copy, you may use the link at the bottom of this page to print these Instructions.

Writing

The Slate Overlay may be written with permanent ink markers, such Sharpie-brand markers. Since translucent inks will not be visible directly on the black surface of the Slate Overlay, we suggest starting with an opaque marker, such as a metallic ink marker. Translucent ink markers may be used over the top of the dried metallic inks.

Once the ink dries, it will be resistant to scuffing and can be handled normally.

Do not use paint markers. These commonly have a plunger tip. These are not erasable from the Slate surface.

Only the Slate top surface is erasable. Do not write on the edge/sides/bottom of the enclosure, the knobs, the LED, the footswitch or washer unless you do not intend to erase it. Permanent ink markers are permanent on these other surfaces.

Erasing

We recommend the following for erasing the Slate surface

  • a disposable towel moistened with 91% isopropyl alcohol, which is available in many department stores
  • "alcohol wipes" containing 91% or greater isopropyl alcohol also work well
  • 70% isopropyl alcohol will erase translucent (non-opaque) inks but not metallic inks

    Please use care when erasing the Slate surface. Moisten a small section of disposable cloth or paper towel with alcohol and rub the surface until the ink is removed. Turn the cloth often. Ink that has been dried on the Slate surface for a long time will require slightly more effort to remove.

    Do not use an excessive amount of cleaning fluid. Do not pour cleaning fluid onto the surface or soak the surface with cleaning fluid, as fluid may seep into the interior of the pedal.

    Caution! Isopropyl alcohol is flammable. Keep away from heat and open flame. Use only in well ventilated areas. Isopropyl alcohol is a skin irritant.
